he's walking . . . {with Jesus}

Loren has painted one of these huge canvas boards for each of the kids.  She gave Gabe's at his super fun surprise shower. . . then took it back from me several months ago and added {and I'm walking with Jesus}.

Gabe would be nine months now; and he would have been walking at the rate he was going.  It makes me smile to think what he would be tearing into.  I would be writing about stuff he was getting into and how busy I am and how tired and how exhausting being a mother is.

Instead my little man is walking with Jesus;

and God is shattering what I thought I knew

and overwhelming me with Who He is.

I wouldn't be learning what He's teaching without the fire.

I wouldn't know what it is to be carried by the arms of a Heavenly Father if our little man was walking around here in our home.

Gabe, I'm so glad you're walking.  I love you, buddy.

  2. Oh Hayley...

    I'd been wondering if that verse was already in your header before Gabe moved to Heaven. But I'm guessing it would easily be any firefighter's family's theme verse. How many more meanings to it now...

    Continuing to pray for you!

  4. What a great painting!!!

    Deeann O. told me about your blog and I love it! I am so glad I found you- I knew I would love it when I heard "Come to Jesus" (my favorite song) playing.

  5. Hello Hayley,

    I came across your blog about a week ago through a link that a friend gave me for your homemade laundry soap. I read the story of your little man and cried...as a new mama, I can't imagine the pain of losing a little one. But it's been so encouraging to me to read all that our Father is showing you and teaching you through this fire. Thank you for sharing your pain and your struggles...and the peace that is sustaining you through this.

    You and your family are in my prayers...

  6. I came to your site as a fellow firefighter's wife. I can relate to you on so many levels... but Gabe's story breaks my heart! Maybe it's partly because I have a son almost the age Gabe would be today, maybe it's because my friend just lost her 21-year-old son suddenly... it just touched me so deeply today...

  7. Life comes with few guarantees, but with Gods way you never have to face anything alone. Thank-you for sharing your families' journey with everyone as testimony to that. Praise God.
